For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, implants are put in your jaw bone. For the next three to six months, they’re under your gums gradually joining with the jaw bone. You can use temporary dentures and stick to a soft diet during this time. Meanwhile, your dentist works on the final bridgework or denture to enhance function and appearance. Once the implant bonds with the jaw bone, the second phase starts. The surgeon uncovers the implants, attaches a healing collar, and Dr. Ross or Dr. Necula will begin to craft your new teeth. This process usually takes about three months, and most patients can continue their daily routines without disruption.
